The state’s release of a Notice of Determination for the California WaterFix project is another significant step in the project. While the state moves forward, the Santa Clara Valley Water District Board of Directors will continue to vet this project to determine what it can do for Santa Clara County’s water supply reliability.
We all know that the aging Delta system is in need of repair. It is vulnerable to earthquakes and other disasters, which in turn jeopardizes our water supply. To help us make an informed, responsible decision, our board continues to study the issue and gather input from the public.
We are encouraging the public to give input on the project and the future of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. It is important for us to remain in touch with our residents on this project because water that passes through the Delta makes up a significant portion of the water used in our county.
I look forward to hearing more from the people of Santa Clara County in the coming months.
