Valley Water is prepared for potential power outages

As temperatures rise this summer, the threat of wildfires looms large— Valley Water is prepared for the possibility of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) should PG&E implement preemptive efforts to help reduce the potential for wildfires.

Valley Water's water treatment plants have backup power to ensure operational continuity during PSPS events. Service to the community will not be disrupted during these pre-emptive power shutdowns, as Valley Water also has a stock of fuel and mobile generators ready for pre-deployment to facilities in the field.

Valley Water is committed to working in partnership with PG&E to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of safe, clean water to our community during unpredictable weather events.

Valley Water manages an integrated water resources system that includes the supply of clean, safe water, flood protection and stewardship of streams on behalf of Santa Clara County's 2 million residents. The district effectively manages 10 dams and surface water reservoirs, three water treatment plants, an advanced recycled water purification center, a state-of-the-art water quality laboratory, nearly 285 acres of groundwater recharge ponds and 333 miles of waterways. We provide wholesale water and groundwater management services to local municipalities and private water retailers who deliver drinking water directly to homes and businesses in Santa Clara County.
