The Pilot Mural Art Project is a collaboration between the Board of Directors, the Youth Commission and local artist Paul J. Gonzalez, to beautify Valley Water property and infrastructure, and to help deter graffiti and litter.
Mural Design Elements
The mural design demonstrates the core pillars supporting Valley Water’s mission to provide Santa Clara County with safe, clean water, flood protection and environmental stewardship. The design captures the environmental and cultural diversity among Valley Water professionals, residents, and species in Santa Clara County. The mural highlights Valley Water’s technology and innovation using modernized imported and purple recycled water pipelines. While demonstrating the sources of water and water-efficient actions required to protect our water resources and sustain life in our county.
Mural Location
The mural is located at Valley Water Almaden Campus, 1020 Blossom Hill Road, San Jose, CA (Valley Water’s Blossom Hill Annex Building). The location was selected due to its high visibility, and location next to the Guadalupe River, a bus stop, a creekside trail, and an existing graffiti and litter hot spot.

August 16, 2022: Blog post on the Mural Paint Day!
July 23, 2022: Pilot Mural Paint Day Event. Valley Water hosted 11 volunteers including six Water Ambassadors, four Youth Commissioners and a community member to help paint the mural. Director Hsueh and Director Santos were in attendance to help show support and paint the mural. Thank you to everyone who participated!
July 19, 2022: Artist Paul J. Gonzalez began outlining the mural in the evenings using a projector, due to the large scale of the wall.
