The Valley Water Youth Commission is made up of 21 high school students throughout Santa Clara County, each appointed by one of the seven board members. It is an official board advisory committee that assists the board with public policy, education, outreach, and other matters impacting Santa Clara County youth. They can earn community service hours, make new friends, and enjoy complimentary dinners at quarterly meetings. The Youth Commission meets quarterly and each commissioner serves a 2-year term.

Eligibility requirements:
Applicants must meet all requirements listed below.
- 13-18 years old
- Attending high school in Santa Clara County
- Resident of Santa Clara County
- Able to commit 5 hours per month
- Available to attend in-person meetings and events, including quarterly meetings on Wednesday evenings at Valley Water headquarters (5700 Almaden Expressway, San Jose, CA 95118)

Creekside Community Care Initiative Project
Education Outreach Project
Establish a youth commission education project and work with local high schools to raise more awareness about Valley Water’s grant opportunities.
Creek Stewardship and Water Quality Project
The Youth Commission will learn about water quality and Valley Water’s state-of-the-art water quality lab through education, interactive activities and a lab tour. The project team will develop a video or other outreach material to share the water quality information with the community and encourage their involvement in keeping our waterways clean.
