The Santa Clara Valley Water District manages an integrated water resources system that includes the supply of clean, safe water, flood protection and stewardship of streams on behalf of Santa Clara County's 1.8 million residents. The Watersheds Summer Internship is one way we are investing in the future workforce to ensure that we continue to fulfill our mission.

The district is offering eight summer internship opportunities to undergraduate (juniors and seniors) and graduate students enrolled in Fall 2015 majoring in various disciplines.

This program has been designed to be a paid learning internship during the period June to August, and provides the interns the following:

  • An opportunity to gain work experience in the water industry
    Assignments designed to provide both learning and work experience

  • An opportunity to network with professionals in your field
    of study
    Work with a seasoned engineer, attend meetings, receive feedback on your progress

  • Gain an awareness of the complex water delivery system of the County
    At least one tour of one of our water treatment plants, field work, and presentations on Water Resources Management in the county

  • Add to your tool box of skills and knowledge
    A portfolio of work examples and a presentation of your lessons learned to your peers will be the capstone of this internship
