The water district manages approximately 800 miles of creeks in Santa Clara County. To provide flood protection to the county’s growing community the district builds flood protection projects and administers an asset management program for its flood protection infrastructure. Among the major flood protections completed in recent years are the lower and downtown Guadalupe River projects. Together, the projects tame 10 miles of river and protected an estimated 95,000 people who live or work along the river in cities of San Jose and Santa Clara.
