The Santa Clara Valley Water District is seeking volunteers who are interested in serving on an informal public stakeholder committee to support an audit and benchmarking review underway at the district. The goal of the review is to identify whether opportunities are present to facilitate greater transparency and accountability across key areas of public management: governance, oversight, civic engagement, budgeting and performance management.
The public stakeholder committee will convene three times at the district headquarters at 5750 Almaden Expressway in San Jose to perform the following activities:
- May 2, 2014, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.: Learn about the scope and approach of the benchmarking review
- May 9, 2014, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Observe a discussion of leading practices by a panel of public management experts
- July 2, 2014, (exact time TBD): Review and comment on the draft transparency and accountability report
Your participation in all three meetings will be expected.
Please provide your full name, contact information, and a brief statement of interest (250 words or less) describing any background, applicable knowledge, or particular interest you have in serving on the Transparency Audit and Benchmarking Review public stakeholder committee. Up to five members of the public will be selected by the independent auditor to serve on the committee based on statement of interest and the number of submittals received. To be eligible to participate, individuals must be over 18 years of age, currently reside within Santa Clara County, and have not been employed by the district within the past two years.
